Home is where the Heart is.
Home is where the heart is” is a proverb we have all heard and it’s true! A home is a safe place you spend time with your family. It’s where memories are made, and where food is served on the table every day. It’s where you put the kids to bed every night. Where you rest your feet on that soft pillow after a long day of hard work. It’s where you dream at night and get creative on the weekends. Your home is where your artistic side comes out. Where you feel most comfortable to be yourself!

At Creative Home Store, we hope to be apart of the heart that fills your home, by not only offering you a unique variety of Artisan made home decor & gift items for your family home and friends alike, but also by providing you with interior design and remodel services to help transform your home into something you’ll love to come home to! A place where you can relax to dream big, or if a problem comes up, have someone you can call and trust to come over and take away your “headaches” so you can go back to living a stressfree life in your home. No tasks are too big or too small! The best part is, since all our items are handmade, handcrafted and hand-curated artisan-made, designed and crafted products, you will also be supporting a local and global artist to be able to make a living doing what they love! So whether you need some honey for your tea, a custom wood table for thanksgiving dinner, someone to fix the broken porch or a redesigned kitchen, Creative Home Store is your friendly neighbor, here to help with all your home needs!

As a Savannah College of Art and Design summa cum laude graduate, being an artist and designer is the beat to my drum. Thinking in shapes and colors, mixed with spaces is what drives me whether we’re talking about a floor plan, typography on a t-shirt, composition in a photograph, or the curves to finish off a handcrafted piece of furniture, design and art is my passion and career. As a child, growing up in Cape Town, South Africa, making things by hand was just a part of life for me. Whether it was painting large paintings for my school, hand sewing or knitting, making jewelry, or building 3-dimensional art pieces from scratch, design and making art was a way of life. Anything and everything I could think of I would try and make. I even remember attempting to make my Barbie doll’s own wood furniture from scraps of wood my grandfather had in his backyard. I did indeed make my first couch and had it for many years too! If anyone would have told me then that over 20 years later I’d be fixing up old couches, restoring chairs, repainting dressers and restoring old homes and building my own Barbie Dream House,  I’m not sure I would have ever believed them.
Just like half of America who spends their lives watching tv, in my late 20’s I found myself bench watching almost every show on HGTV. The boring House Hunters, the funny Property Brothers, the fascinating Rehab Addict, and of course Chip and Joanna on their magical farm in Waco Texas on Fixer Upper, were all my guilty pleasures. At that stage in my life, I’ve already had two dream jobs. Working as a compositor and animator for the Always Sunny in Philidelphia scripted animation series called Unsupervised, and the Emmy Award-winning animation series Archer on FX. But as I spend 6 months on the job making a mouth move every day, I realized that being stuck to a computer screen as a 9 to 5 was not my heart’s desire, so I released myself on the dream position to give the opportunity to someone who truly loved it more than me, and made the drastic decision to jump into a career I never thought would even be possible! I worked my way up from the bottom into the “Hollywood of Atlanta” that was growing so rapidly. Many years before I gave up on the dream of ever having a chance to work in Hollywood, since I couldn’t afford to move to California, but now I didn’t have to! I was back to working for minimum wage as an “extra” as I asked, poked, and even begged any production assistant to help me get to the “big man” for a chance to work on set. I got my break after landing a full-time stand-in gig on a scripted tv show, The Originals, the highly anticipated spin-off of the long-running Vampire Diaries show on the CW network. I learned everything and anything about the film industry and soon later moved up to be worthy enough as a set-dresser on and offset, and even as a buyer for to the decorator. As I worked on several different films and tv shows over the years, I learned how to work grueling hours, carrying items twice my size and weight, driving over 100 miles almost every day on the hunt for the most unique pieces of furniture and decor to complete the look and feel for the set. It was there, in the film industry, I fell in love with the beauty of storytelling. Where I learned not only about staging but how each character reacts and interacts with space or the set. But in the end, it all made me realize that my heart is still yearning for… something of my own!
While still working in the film industry, I reconnected by chance with one of my best friends from high school, who clearly was my match made in heaven. After 10 years passed, he showed up on my doorstep at the right time and place and we’ve been inseparable since! Little did I know at the time, I finally met my “Chip” and not only was my heart filled with love, I soon realized I met my creative soulmate who just happens to have been flipping homes with his brother for those 10 years, learning and practicing the ins and outs of every aspect of a home. Not only was David amazing at building things, he is a true creative problem solver when it comes to practically fixing/repairing anything, so I began a new dream for us. To restore old homes together!
My point is, a home is where creativity sparks, and that’s why we want to help you fill your home with beautiful unique, well build and crafted items that not only compliment you and your unique taste, but help support other artisans and families who uses their artistic talents to also support their families too!
